Asian Student Leadership Conference (ASLC) is an annual summer camp hold in Singapore. Each year, about 200 high school students gather to discuss pressing social problems by introducing their own projects, together with workshops, and also entertainment activities. I formed a team with three of my friends and was the team leader. After weeks of preparation, our final product is a mobile app called “Ideal Mommy” which aims at empowering post-pregnancy women and preventing them from insecurity. As the team leader, besides my work on the marketing plan, I scheduled team meetings, contacted consultants, and also took care of others for one week in Singapore. Among many amazing foreign teams, we won the Gold with Distinction prize and Gold medal for Best Performance. I think that the important reasons underlying this achievement are our confidence and the progressive mindset which were shown in many other activities during the trip. Moreover, I made new friends, talked to prestigious professors, and had unforgettable moments exploring Singapore city. It was one of my most memorable times since I got the chance to freely express and challenge myself, be exposed to the cultural diversity environment.
Extended Student Council is a group of 15 students, as the assistance for Student Council with Student-Union related works. Besides, we are also the organization board of two school annual events for grade 10 students: Spring Fair and Orientation Day. For Orientation Day 2019: All of Ams, I was the Head of Content, working on offering detailed activities during the event, and planning a specific timetable. It was a difficult job coupled with significant responsibilities of managing over 700 people including volunteers and new students. On that day, I had to flexibly rearrange the schedule due to excessive time, continually update the situation of all classes, and public speaking at the official greeting ceremony. Thanks to the Council, I was involved in a professional environment, trained specialized skills in content jobs, and also gained practical event organizing experiences. Despite always being busy with strict deadlines, I am really proud to be a member of the Extended Student Council.
Healers proudly to be the first tarot club by students in Hanoi since 2013. I was the Head of Content for the club year 2019 - 2020 undertaking works such as planning schedules, arranging meetings, and training members of my department. During the school year, we have an annual event named Metanoia - a free tarot reading workshop for students. However, I decided to extend the scale outside my school, open additional online activities. We encountered some problems about a suitable location and sufficient source of finance. In the end, I managed to negotiate with the coffee shop’s manager to let us use their place for free, and we ensured a certain number of orders. The event succeeded with about 100 attendees and continues to appeal to more and more people in the next years. Healers is my little cozy family with comfortable and healing meetings, where members gather, learn tarot, and share stories together.
"Ngay hoi anh tai” is an annual event of my school where 13 majors will compete together to see who wins the “Most Wanted Class” title, lasting from January to September each year. It is considered the most well-known high school event in my city due to the professional scale and participation of celebrities at the gala night. After three rounds of selection, I was chosen to be a member of the organization board, in the Content Department. This is one of the most challenging works I have ever undertaken since we were required to continually come up with innovative ideas to improve the quality of activities in every event.
We were assigned to offer the name and theme for each pre-event, create physical games with detailed instructions, also spend much time experimenting to ensure the safety and fascinating factors of these games. With high expectations and desires from other students and teachers to have outstanding features, I had to work under harsh pressure of time and deadline. Despite being overwhelmed sometimes, "Ngay hoi anh tai" gave me precious opportunities to further my creativity, train communication skills, especially persuasion ability, and enjoy the most dynamic moments of high school.
The Match 2018 is an educational project to support secondary students who aim at getting into a specialized school by holding a conference where successful high school students share their advice, learning studies, and tips. As a member of the Relations Team, I created a communication plan to promote the project and call for financial sponsorship. Our promotion campaign included two parts which were online posts on social media and meetings at some secondary schools to directly introduce the project. We gained a lot of attention through our Facebook posts about viral topics such as high school love, peer pressure, etc with remarkably high reactions for each post up to 5000 likes. Finally, the conference succeeded with over 300 participants, and then we were also invited to interview by two online papers. During these summer months, I challenged myself in the new world of communication, also gained essential skills in this field like public speaking ability, content creating, and teamwork skills which can definitely assist my study and career in the future.
Camp Blast is a summer camp with both education and entertainment activities for 7 to 12 children. After the interview, I was selected to be a childcare volunteer in Room 10 with eight other friends. Each room had about 12 children and we took the responsibility of teaching, taking care of them for one week following the scheduled plan. I had joyful moments playing around with the kids, also gained patience, and learned practical problem-solving skills once one of the children got lost. It was a week full of smiles and happy memories.
The warm New Year at the Frontier” is a charity program held since 2017 with the humanitarian purpose of helping impoverished people in border areas of Vietnam. I got the chance to attend every trip for five years until now. As a volunteer, I prepared and packed donating stuff such as clothes, food, etc before each trip, then directly give these presents to impoverished households. Besides, when visiting primary schools there, I also taught letters and basic mathematics for children, joined in entertainment activities with them. During those trips, there were hard times because of the severe topography, freezing weather, and insufficient infrastructure. However, thanks to these precious experiences, I have learned to treasure my life, empathize and readily help people who are not lucky as I am. Hopefully that I can reach out to more needy people, share their difficulties and create a brighter situation in the future.
